What to do Around Town

By EMILY PENSABENE

Now that the school year is over and summer is starting, students and teachers alike will be looking for things to do when they’re bored. Luckily, there are numerous things to do in Westchester County.

One of the most popular attractions is Playland Park in Rye. The park is host to many rides for young kids and teenagers, with even more options for food. Not only is the park a hot spot for having fun, but it’s also a place where you can catch the sun. Right next to Playland is a nice beach that people can enjoy.

Other outdoor spaces that Westchester County hosts are also worth visiting. The Greenburgh Nature Center & Manor House is one of those places. It is located in lower Westchester County and they offer nature and environmental education for their visitors. According to the Greenburgh Nature Center, the site has nature trails, Native American sites, animal exhibits, and a Native Plant Meadow (Greenburgh Nature Center n.p.). Westchester Trail Rides is a perfect place to go to if you’re a nature and animal person. Located in Croton-On-Hudson, visitors can ride horses in areas of untouched land.

However, if you’re more of an indoorsy person, there are plenty of indoor activities in Westchester County to check out. One beautiful indoor place to see is the Lyndhurst Mansion, open for tours on Thursday - Monday, 10 AM to 4 PM. The Lyndhurst Mansion, a Gothic Revival Mansion, is located in Tarrytown and it overlooks the Hudson River. According to the Lyndhurst, it even has a park like landscape and a collection of decorative arts.

If you are someone who is more adventurous, go to the iFLY Indoor Skydiving to fly! They allow almost everyone from ages 2-103, but there are certain requirements you must meet.

These are only a few of the many paces you can visit in Westchester County! The best way to find these places is to drive around the county and decide what you love best.
