During the government shutdown, many employees were not being paid, one of which being the Transportation Security Administration, otherwise known as the TSA.

The TSA is an agency of the US Department of Homeland Security, whose job it is to maintain the security of the traveling public in the United States of America. Certain workers were not paid while the government was shut down.

As a result, 170 TSA employees at JFK airport called out sick each day. The workers were irritated that they were not being paid for working, so they utilized their sick days and did not go to work. With the decrease in TSA employees during the government shutdown, security in airports was significantly at risk and travelers were also becoming angry because of the long lines due to the lack of TSA workers.

Hopefully, the crisis that continues to plague the government will soon be solved for safety and security reasons, and for the members of the TSA whose jobs are in a constant state of uncertainty.
