Those Few Moments

By SIENA EDWARDS

Life can change in seconds. Someone could go from being on cloud nine to falling into the depths of hell in seconds. Time is of the essence in life; it is valuable. Time is worth more than any bar of gold.

We all want more time, but we do not appreciate the time that we have. We never stop to take a moment to appreciate what we already have. Instead, we just ask for more.

Life moves quickly. The world does not stop for everyone's problems; if it did, we would never get anywhere. Life is hard and it can be painful, but there are a few moments that we often forget or pay no mind to. Those moments are the ones that matter the most; they are the moments that we take for granted and need to hold onto. In this modern-day world, there is a depletion of gratitude and a surplus of hatred.

The modern-day world that we are living in is full of hate, there is hardly any love. Everywhere you turn there is hate. We hate ourselves, we hate each other, we hate the life that we were given; nothing is good enough and we always want more.

Unfortunately, society has inundated us with the feeling that we will never be good enough. We will never be skinny enough or pretty enough. No matter what, we can never escape the things that make us hate ourselves. We constantly compare ourselves to people that we think are the epitome of perfection.

We can never run away from memories that haunt us. We constantly try to run away from our problems, but they always find us. No matter what we have, we always desire more. We are greedy and gluttonous. People’s thirst for desire shall never be quenched. We are lustful. We can be given the world and still want the universe. We do not take the time to appreciate all the little things that make up the bigger things.

The little things in life are ever so often overlooked. Those are the moments that matter the most.

Life can change in the blink of an eye. The difference between life and death is a second. We need to take time to remember the small things in life that make us content. Those moments are precious and beautiful. Although they may be small, they are the most significant. Those little moments make us feel whole. Something as simple as the slight burst of euphoria someone gets when they read a text from a loved one is a moment that we need to hold on to. Or the ultimate sense of comfort that we feel when we share an intimate moment with a loved one. Or that little spark of joy that you feel when you see someone for the first time and you share an impish glance. Whether it is a hug or a kiss, the feeling of comfort that we feel in those moments is important. These are the moments that lift us up when we are feeling down.

We also need to appreciate the ultimate sense of relief we experience when it feels as if the weight of the world is being lifted off your shoulders. Or when we find something valuable that was missing. Those are the moments that we experience in life that we need to hold on to. These are the little moments that we take for granted.

Although they may seem insignificant, they are the most significant. These are the moments that keep us grounded when it feels as if we are flying away. They make us feel loved and content. They remind us that everything will be ok, but only when they happen. We overlook these moments as if they are meaningless, when these moments are full of meaning. We need to look back at these moments and be grateful for them. Our world needs to be filled with gratitude and peace.

We tend to focus on what is going on around us that we forget to look at what is happening within us.

We are all in pain and we are all facing demons. But, what we fail to realize is that we constantly suppress or overlook the reasons why. We feel horrible for weeks on end and wallow in self-pity, but to get beyond that pain and those emotions, we must look within ourselves. To heal, we must take a journey within our mind, body, and soul and remember what makes us happy and just how lucky we are to be alive.

We need to remind ourselves to hold on to those precious and wholesome moments where we just feel an ultimate burst of euphoria. We need to appreciate what we have and be grateful. We need to fill ourselves with gratitude.

Life is a forever gift that we ever so often take for granted.
