For the summer of 2017, Mr. Philip J. Cutrone, director of the Westlake High School’s theater program, teams up with the Town of Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation to create the Mount Pleasant Summer Theatre Project.

The project is performing the show Brain From Planet X, a “hilarious musical send-up of bad 50’s sci-fi movies, THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X tells the story of an alien invasion circa 1958. A Brain and its two alien cohorts arrive on Earth with a plan to take over the San Fernando Valley - starting with a happy nuclear family. It’s the first step on the road to their quest of taking over the entire planet and destroying the family unit,” (Rodgers

and Hammerstein).

The show is open to Mount Pleasant community members from ages 14-25. Auditions are from Monday, May 22 to Thursday, May 25.

Brain From Planet X has a variety of funny characters. For example, Yoni- the female alien and one of the Brain’s assistants, discovers her sexuality during her time on earth and sings a funny song about how she wants an earthman for herself. Another character includes Fred Bunson- a fine upstanding scientist and inventor (he’s the man Yoni sings the song about). Other characters include The Narrator, Professor Leder, Joyce Bunson, Donna Bunson, Rod, General Mills, Private Partz, Zubrick, the Brain, and many other funny ensemble parts.

Joining The Mount Pleasant Summer Theater Project is a great way for your teen/young adult to be occupied over the summer. There isn’t a lot to do in Mount Pleasant so this is a great new addition to allow kids to have a summer program that isn’t $500 and in another part of Westchester.

So please, if you’re interested contact Mr. Cutrone and like the Mount Pleasant Summer Theatre Project Facebook Page for more details!
