Amazon vs. Apple

By EDMUND GRECO

Two of the world’s most powerful commerce companies, Amazon Inc. and Apple Inc., are renowned for their influence in and on the modern global world. Although not technically both technical companies, both provide a pathway to the future with their constant innovations and influence.

Amazon is mainly an online commerce website but has also recently broken into the technology industry with the latest, and very young, Amazon products recently releasing. Apple is a tech company and is known for their line of personal computers and phones but also manufactures other products.

Let's compare these two companies in terms of influence around the world:

Amazon operates in 16 countries worldwide, as compared to Apple who operates in all around the world. In 2016, Amazon had a total revenue of 136 billion USD as compared to Apple who has earned 229.2 billion USD already in 2017, according to the article “US iPhones users as share of smartphone users 2014-2016.” The article also details that it is estimated that over 90 million people in the U.S. own an Apple iPhone. In comparison, Chris Isidore from CNN Moneypoints out that only 54 million people use the Amazon Prime Service in the U.S.

Both companies are giants in their respected industry and a full comparison cannot be made, as they offer different goods and services. However, in terms of global influence, Apple takes the cake in this comparison.
