What to Expect From Spirit Week - as a Freshman

By Marlena Balic

Monday - Pajama day is a comfy, relaxed way to start the week. Everyone usually participates, even teachers!

Tuesday - RED, WHITE and BLUE. Here is our chance to show our American PRIDE. Considering there are three colors to choose from, this is the perfect way to participate!

Wednesday - Themed after Mean Girls, “Wednesdays We Wear Pink,” was a easy way to dress up, as most students and teachers already have something pink. It was also a great theme since it acknowledged Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Thursday - Hallway decorating happens on Thursday! Since Pep Rally is hosted on Friday, the student council of each grade gets a hallway and has to decorate it.  If you are part of the student council as an incoming freshman, you should know that it is important to have lots of materials and colorful art supplies of your theme to hang in the hallway. It is a great way to participate in the designs of your school and get hours to graduate.

Friday - PEP RALLY. Fridays are an exciting day since it is Pep Rally.  Pep Rally is a bunch of activities hosted by the student council in the high school on Friday at the end of the day. As an incoming freshman, you should know that you will probably be sitting on the floor and also will not win many activities, as it is centered around the seniors winning every game and enjoying their last year in the school. As you get older, you become more involved in the activities, but as a freshman, it's pretty boring. But a positive thing about pep rally is that it's at the end of the day, so all of your periods are shortened, and the last hour is filled with games and hanging with friends!

Saturday -- Homecoming is a great way to wrap up a fantastic week of school spirit, celebrating varsity sports’ teams, as well as the big football game where the whole school comes together to support our varsity football team in a big game. Freshman year is the first year you sit in the bleachers and it is so exciting. Since this year we expanded our bleachers, there is now more room for the student class, which was a great way to have more school spirit!Homecoming is a lot of fun and a great way to end a week with your whole school!
