Homecoming 2025
By Maria Paternostro
During October, Westlake High School hosted its annual Homecoming Week from the 14th to the 18th.
Each day of Homecoming Week is celebrated by students dressing up to show school spirit, pride and unity for the school community. Regardless of grade level, students' participation highlights the traditions most enjoyed to start off the school year.
On Tuesday, students wore pajamas. On Wednesday, students dressed up as their age : freshmen dressed up as babies; sophomores dressed up as teenagers; juniors dressed up as mom’s and dad’s; and seniors dressed up as senior citizens.
On Thursday, each class picked a theme: freshmen dressed up as country vs country club; sophomores dressed as mathletis vs athletes; juniors dressed up as jersey vs Jersey Shore; and seniors dressed up as celebrities. On the last day, Friday, Westlake celebrated the week with class color day. Freshman dressed in gray, sophomores in white, juniors dressed in black and seniors dressed in blue.
The Pep Rally on Friday was a bunch of fun, and it helped students boost school spirit for the Homecoming football game on Saturday.
Throughout Spirit Week, most homecoming games celebrated wins. The Varsity Volleyball teams played Woodlands on Tuesday, winning a total of 3 out of 5 sets. On Wednesday, it was the girls varsity soccer homecoming, overcoming Haldane 3-0. Then, on Friday, the boys varsity soccer homecoming played Obama High School and won 7-0. The boys varsity football game played Hendrick Hudson, winning 44-20 and were undefeated.
