Sean "Diddy" Combs, a businessman and music star, has been accused of controlling and abusing several women over an extended period of time. According to the accusers, Diddy used his considerable influence to force them into dangerous relationships, such as violent and/or non-consensual sexual encounters.  Another claim was that he also threatened their careers if they did not do as he asked.

Diddy has denied all of the claims, also, calling them false and that the women are making it all up to get money. Lawyers said they would surely fight back in court, but people needed to be heard due to heavy public concern, with many demands of accountability.

 

The claims became the latest part of a broader wave of Hollywood-wide outcry, as more women started to come forward and make their voices heard on abuses from powerful individuals. While Diddy has built an entire empire in music, fashion, and business, this situation has raised serious conversations about how individuals in high places can sometimes abuse their earned influence.

 

A case against him would have kept questions about abuses in the entertainment world, and whether celebrities can ever be effectively punished for their crimes, in the headlines for the length of time it took to make its way through the courts.
