Does Christmas Come Too Early?
By Isabella Celentano
It’s only the start of November, but it already feels like Christmas. Halloween is barely over, yet people have already started preparing for Christmas; some have even started decorating. The question is: does Christmas begin after Halloween or after Thanksgiving?
Large corporations such as Dunkin and Starbucks have already dropped their holiday drinks on November 5th and 6th—bringing back peppermint mochas, sugar cookie lattes, and holiday cups. Other stores have already put the Halloween candy on the sale rack and have set up the Christmas selection. Businesses say they release holiday items early because it gets people excited and boosts sales. However, some say it's too early to buy these items.
Regardless of time, people do exactly this: get into the Christmas spirit well before Thanksgiving even hits.
What ever happened to Thanksgiving? It seems like it has been an overlooked holiday surrounded by Christmas cheer. Do you wait to decorate until after Thanksgiving or are you eating Turkey in a room full of Christmas decor? While many people love the early Christmas cheer, others may think it’s too soon. So, what do you think, does Christmas come too early?
